Argus is a personal knowledge search engine for iOS that indexes local device data—including photos, messages, calendar events, notes, contacts, voice notes, web bookmarks, workouts, sleep data, and visit history. It utilizes Apple Foundation Models on iOS 26 for on-device AI features at no cost, ensuring data never leaves the phone. Users can optionally bring their own API keys for Claude, OpenAI, or Gemini to handle specific tasks like text, vision, or image generation.
The app offers hybrid search combining keywords, semantic embeddings, and recency, allowing natural language queries such as “Photos of food” or filtering by source. Power users can access Geek Mode with 73 commands, macros, and workflows. Features include multi-turn chat with personas, Agent Mode for executing data commands (with confirmation), and an AI Photo Studio for editing, OCR, and background removal. Visual Intelligence allows camera-based searching on iPhone 16 Pro+. HealthKit integration provides an 8-chart dashboard for activity, sleep, and heart rate data, plotted on maps with heart-rate zones. Additional tools include a custom keyboard extension, Quicklinks, smart folders, Spotlight integration, and iPad optimization. All ingestion and indexing are on-device, with full data export available in Markdown, JSON, or CSV formats.
