इस ऐप के बारे में

Alto is a macOS utility that extracts data from Apple applications—including Notes, Messages, Mail, Calendar, Contacts, Reminders, Safari history, bookmarks, Phone Calls, Voice Memos, Screenshots, Screen Time, Apple Books, Kindle, Podcasts, Bear, and Granola—into plain Markdown files stored in a user-selected folder. The app maintains synchronization, ensuring the local folder remains current as source data changes. All processing occurs locally on the Mac; no data is uploaded to external servers. Each exported file includes links back to the original item in its respective app. The software supports integration with AI and productivity tools such as Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Obsidian, and Cursor by generating README documentation, Claude Code skills, and an MCP server within the export folder. Pricing involves a one-time purchase after free trial limits for specific sources, while some sources like Bear, Voice Memos, Podcasts, Screen Time, and Contacts are fully free.

Safari is one card: your history, bookmarks and Reading List, and with Safari unlocked your open tabs, Tab Groups, Recently Closed, downloads and more. Either Safari purchase you made unlocks all of it. Each Voice Memos note carries its transcript: the one Voice Memos made, or on macOS 27 one heard on your Mac in the language you choose. Each card keeps its settings in Options…, the same sheet as at setup. Safari can also write CSV tables, and link previews in Apple Notes come out as links.

If you bought a bundle, alto.index no longer asks you to buy anything before it has heard back from Apple about what you own. It used to show every source's free limit and price for the first moment after launch, and kept showing them if that check was slow. A sync that starts in that moment now waits for the answer too, so it never runs with the free limits. The Claude Desktop extension is in the app: open Integrations and the download starts straight away. The mcp docs button opens a page that exists.

Choose what syncs. Tick the folders and notes to export from Apple Notes, the mailboxes from Mail, the lists from Reminders and the calendars from Calendar, and the same for Messages, Bear, Contacts, Voice Memos, bookmarks, Books, Podcasts, Kindle and Screen Time. Anything new, a folder or a chat you start tomorrow, exports on its own unless you untick it. Organize Apple Notes by folder, by tag or by smart folder, and Contacts in one folder, by group or by company. Notes and Bear export as Markdown or HTML. Contacts and Calendar now read straight from their folder on your Mac: contact notes come across, and repeating events export every time they happen. Each asks for its folder once, and everything you already exported stays where it is. Notes and Messages export in a richer format. A note is named by its title and links to the notes it mentions; a conversation shows replies and edits and links each person to their contact file. Full resync removes only the files alto.index wrote. Anything else in your export folder stays. Every source card works the same way: what it saves, where, and one row of buttons, with a sync bar that never moves the layout. And alto.index now speaks seventeen languages.
