BonzAI transforms Apple devices into a personal AI agent, emphasizing local execution to keep conversations, history, and files under user control. The app allows users to chat, reason, analyze PDFs, CSVs, JSON, text files, and images, with analysis staying on-device when compatible models are used. Users can run personal research using web search capabilities or rely entirely on offline processing. Integration with built-in tools like weather and location is supported, along with MCP connections to services such as Home Assistant, Notion, and Google Drive. Automation is enabled through Siri and the Shortcuts app, allowing for agentic routines, image/document analysis, and model prewarming. Advanced users can select from various AI sources, including Apple Intelligence, local open-source models (Gemma, Qwen, Phi, Mistral, Llama, DeepSeek), local servers (Ollama, LM Studio, vLLM, llama.cpp), or remote APIs. The app utilizes llama.cpp for efficient GGUF model execution on Apple hardware, enabling custom persona creation and inference parameter tuning.
