Gemini 2: The Duplicate Finder

About this app

Gemini 2 is a duplicate file finder developed by MacPaw Way Ltd, the creators of CleanMyMac X. Designed specifically for macOS, it scans the entire system—including internal drives, external disks, and network volumes—to locate identical or similar files such as photos, music, and documents. The application introduces a “Duplicate Monitor” feature that actively watches specified folders or the entire Mac for new duplicates, allowing users to delete them immediately to prevent future clutter.

Key capabilities include detecting exact duplicates and similar files (e.g., different formats or bitrates), automatically selecting which copies to keep based on customizable rules, and using hard links to save space without deleting original files. Users can exclude specific folders from scanning, restore mistakenly deleted items, and move duplicates to USB drives. The interface features a modern theme with gamified elements like achievements. While the app offers a free tier with limited manual deletion via Finder, full access to intelligent cleaning and monitoring requires an annual subscription.
